Doris Duan-Young. M.S., BCBA, is the Founder and President/CEO of three behavioral health agencies in Central Florida.   Behavioral Support Services, Inc. was founded in 1999 to provide services for children and adults with behavioral, emotional and developmental disabilities.  Seeing a need in the community, Mrs. Duan-Young opened a second agency, American Living Inc., in 2001, which operates residential homes for individuals that need intensive behavioral and therapeutic services.  In 2008, Milestone Social Services, Inc., a non-profit organization, was established to improve the quality of life for foster care children with severe behavioral and/or developmental disabilities. Mrs. Duan-Young has proven to be a creative and farsighted thinker in addressing the unmet needs of the Central Florida Community.

Born and raised in the People’s Republic of China, Mrs. Duan-Young relocated to the United States to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.  In 1995, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis and achieved National Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst in 1996.  Mrs. Duan-Young is an expert presenter and her work has been published in behavioral journals including The Journal of Applied Behavioral Analysis and Behavioral Interventions.

Mrs. Duan-Young is an active member of community councils committed to improving the lives of children, adults and families in Central Florida.  Her three companies have achieved significant success as well.  Behavioral Support Services, Inc. attained Full Accreditation from the Joint Commission in 2007.  American Living, Inc., licensed in Florida by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, consistently receives high overall scores in annual reviews.  Milestone Social Services, Inc. quickly earned a winning reputation in the community. With overwhelming support from the local and state governments, the agency was awarded a large federal grant to provide work-related skills training to youth aging out of the foster care system.

Mrs. Duan-Young is well known and admired by executives and community leaders in Central Florida.  In May of 2010, her assistance was sought by the Honorable Richard T. Crotty, former Mayor of Orange County, Florida, to aid him with advance preparations for his official trip to China.  Her excellent communication skills in both the English and Chinese languages were invaluable in her role as “personal ambassador” for the Mayor.  Mrs. Duan Young is a founding member of the Orlando Area Committee on Foreign Relations and a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition International Advisory Committee.  A member of the Mayor's International Advisory Committee specializing in China affairs, Mrs. Duan-Young facilitated the first meeting between the Mayor of Orlando and Chinese Embassy in April 2011.  In September 2011, she was appointed by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer as an Ambassador to the China Guilin International Tourism Exhibition (CGITE 2011) held in Orlando's sister city, Guilin, China.

Mrs. Duan-Young credits her husband of 20 years, Samuel Young, and their two children: Serena and Norden for both her personal and professional success.  "Their love and support inspires me daily," she says, "so I continue to look for ways to make this a better community, not just for them, but for those individuals whose lives are affected by disabilities and mental illness".
